About the production Sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella have gotten engaged to their coworkers, lifeguards Guglielmo and Ferrando! But their cynical manager Don Alfonso makes a bet with the boys – if Guglielmo and Ferrando pretend they’ve been reassigned elsewhere, then come back in disguise to flirt with each other’s fiancées, the girls will surely fall in love with the wrong guys! Ferrando and Guglielmo are sure they can make some easy money, but Don Alfonso has a few tricks up his sleeve, and the help of the clever snow-cone girl, Despina. Will Fiordiligi and Dorabella fall for the “handsome foreign swimmers” – or will Don Alfonso have to admit defeat?

Synopsis
ACT I Lifeguards Ferrando and Guglielmo have the perfect workplace romances – they’ve recently gotten engaged to the wonderful Dorabella and the virtuous Fiordiligi! But Don Alfonso, their cynical manager, laughs at the idea. All women are fickle, and these two are no exception! He strikes a deal with the boys: if they give him 24 hours and follow his instructions, he can prove their girlfriends unfaithful. Certain the task is impossible, the boys bet a thousand dollars against it.
Fiordiligi and Dorabella are on break, daydreaming about their boyfriends, when Don Alfonso arrives to announce that the boys have been transferred to another location! Ferrando and Guglielmo bid a tragic farewell to their despairing sweethearts – and unbeknownst to the girls, they circle back to disguise themselves.
Dorabella declares that she will die without her Ferrando, but the snow-cone girl Despina tells them to enjoy their newfound freedom. After all, surely the boys will be checking out other bathing beauties while they’re away! The girls are shocked, but Don Alfonso senses a kindred spirit in Despina and slips her some cash to help in his plot. The pair of them reintroduce the boys as handsome foreign swimmers, who pretend to have immediately fallen in love with the girls. Fiordiligi kicks them out and declares her fidelity to Guglielmo. Surprised by her steadfastness, Don Alfonso wonders if he might be mistaken. The boys, laughing, demand payment for winning the bet, but Don Alfonso isn’t ready to give up.
On Don Alfonso’s advice, the boys pretend to poison themselves for their unrequited loves, and the girls panic. Don Alfonso and Despina tell them to do their best to help while Despina runs to find a doctor. Torn between duty and aggravation, the girls hesitate, but decide they have to help the “unconscious” swimmers. Despina returns in disguise as a doctor and brings the boys back to life. The boys “revive” and beg for kisses from the angels they see before them. Despite encouragement from Despina and Don Alfonso, Fiordiligi and Dorabella refuse to give in.
ACT II Despina laughs at the girls and tells them that even a fifteen-year-old has to know how to handle men. Dorabella confesses to Fiordiligi that she wants to flirt with the handsome strangers – only flirting, nothing more! – and Fiordiligi reluctantly gives in to her sister’s boredom. The girls split up to chat with the stranger of their choice – Dorabella with Guglielmo, and Fiordiligi with Ferrando. While Ferrando strikes out with Fiordiligi, Guglielmo succeeds in replacing Dorabella’s lock screen photo (of her and Ferrando) with a selfie of himself and Dorabella. Ferrando is furious when he finds out. Guglielmo sympathizes, complaining that he always defends women but they still treat men terribly, but gloats that Fiordiligi is still faithful to him.
Dorabella admits to Despina and Fiordiligi that she accepted the stranger’s love. Despina congratulates her, but Fiordiligi is worried and regrets starting the flirtation at all. She decides to travel to Kansas with Dorabella to be reunited with their fiancés. Ferrando bursts in on her and renews his attempts at seduction. Frustrated and worn-out, Fiordiligi at last gives in. Guglielmo is furious and Ferrando teases him with his previous boasts, but Don Alfonso tells them to calm down and not take it so personally – after all, “they’re all like that”.
Dorabella and Despina are already ready to have a poolside wedding, and Despina turns up in disguise as a notary to oversee the marriage contract. But as soon as the contract is signed, Don Alfonso’s radio goes off, and he announces that the real fiancés have returned! The “foreign swimmers” pretend to hide and the girls panic, as their original fiancés show up and demand to know what’s going on. They depart in a pretended rage, only to return moments later half in their disguises and half out. Despina reveals herself as the notary (making the marriage contract invalid), Don Alfonso claims his victory, and the couples agree to take life a little less seriously.
